Sharmila Mukherjee joined Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority in late October 2019 as the Executive Vice President (EVP) Planning and Development. Sharmila manages service planning/short range planning, service analysis, regional transportation coordination, transit-oriented development projects, Cap Metro’s sustainability office and supports Project Connect, the high capacity transit system planning and alternatives analyses for Central Texas.
Sharmila last held the positions of Senior Planning Manager and Vice President at WSP (formerly Parsons Brinckerhoff), an international engineering and infrastructure consulting firm in the role of planning and environment manager for Northern California.
She is a certified planner (AICP) and program manager with over 20 years of progressive urban transportation planning and project management experience. Sharmila is experienced in transit project and program planning and possesses a successful track record of stakeholder relations and people management.
Sharmila holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning with specialization in Transportation Planning from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Graduate Certificate in Traffic Engineering Methods from Northwestern University.
Sharmila is a graduate of Eno Transit Leadership Mid-Manager Program and a graduate of Leadership APTA Class of 2017.
