Scott Forbes is a highly qualified Railway Professional Engineer with more than 35 years of experience in Rail Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering and Construction Management in a wide variety of railway disciplines, including over 25 years of experience in the review and approval of railway track design packages, track calculations, Systems Integration and System Requirements. His knowledge with the System Engineering development cycle has proven successful with various project phases such as system integration, testing and customer support. Experience includes Systems Requirements and design and review of safety critical systems.
Scott is a Licensed Professional Engineer with the Canadian Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and Canadian Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Association of Alberta (APEGA), in addition to holding Professional Engineering Licenses in the State of California, Arizona and Michigan.
Scott has strong technical project management skills, including cost estimation, scheduling, and claim management. He uses these skills to bolster his technical review, provide insights and added value benefits to the Lifecyle of a complex mega rail infrastructure project. Scott has extensive experience on both the Owner’s side and Contractor’s side of a complex mega project. Sample recent mandates include Design Director for the Regional Express Rail (RER) On-Corridor Project where he led a cross functional team of professionals. He was also the Design Director for the Edmonton Valley East LRT project where he lead a cross functional team of professionals. He was also the Design Director of the Calgary Green Line LRT where he lead a cross functional team of professionals.
Scott has international recognition with railway design best practice, especially as it relates to optimizing practical aspects of program delivery, procurement, and constructability. This has led to engagements as workshop leader in facilitating independent Value Engineering Reviews on international mega projects. Scott also is adept at contract management, requirements engineering and systems integration. He evaluates and ensures technical compliance of railway systems engineering.
