Carol Ketcherside has worked in the public transportation industry since 1984 and has been with Valley Metro since 2006. She is currently the Deputy Director for Planning and Development at Valley Metro and oversees Capital and Service Planning, Geographic Services, Capital Development, Design Standards, and the Valley Metro Public Art program. Previous assignments at Valley Metro have included Director of Administration (Services, HR, Procurement, IT, Risk Management) and Deputy Director for Service Planning and Accessible Transit Services.
Ketcherside previously worked in various capacities with the Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority in Topeka, KS, and VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio. She also served for 12 years as executive director of the South West Transit Association—an eight-state regional transit association serving southwestern states including Arizona.
Ketcherside has a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design (Architecture), both from the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Design. She is actively involved in the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners and WTS (Advancing Women in Transportation). She served on the American Public Transportation Association Executive Committee as Vice Chair of State Affairs from 2000 to 2003.
