Alex is the head of the Safety & Quality Department responsible for overseeing the safe operation of the railway; implementing a comprehensive safety and quality management system for ensuring reliable and safe passengers services; leading investigations into serious incidents and managing safety rules and procedures.
Alex is a Chartered Engineer with 30 years’ experience in railway safety, quality and productivity management. Following his graduation in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in mechanical engineering, he joined the Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) as a Graduate Trainee. The early part of his career was specialized in productivity enhancement and business efficiency improvement. Subsequently he was developed as a railway safety expert, helping the company to establish a centralized safety, quality, environmental and asset management system covering all its transportation systems, ranging from mass-transit systems, multi-modal rail transportation, to light rail and bus operations.
Following the merger of KCRC and MTRCL in 2008, Alex led the amalgamation of railway safety culture and rules of the two companies, enhancing the corporation’s capability in railway accident investigation and developing a health emergency preparedness system.
